Lupron Lawsuits – Information, Risks and Assistance

About Lupron

Lupron is a prescription drug, first manufactured by Abbott Pharmaceuticals in 1985. It is an injectable protein used to alleviate the symptoms of fibroids, certain cancers, endometriosis and related conditions, though it was first used in the treatment of prostate cancer.

A popular treatment for endometriosis for millions of women in America, the injection stimulates a menopausal effect by stunting estrogen in its users leading to a shrinking of lesions. It, however, doesn’t interfere with the ability to conceive since the injections are discontinued when one is trying to conceive.

Lupron is popularly prescribed in the treatment for certain cancers, but it does come with notable risks and side effects whose information was not revealed in good time. Many Lupron lawsuits have already been filed against Abott and other pharmaceutical companies.

Risks and Side Effects

Lupron injectable protein use has been indicated to cause localized pain at the site of injection, and headaches, among other symptoms. Possible side effects as a result of the drug may also include the following:

  • Arthritis and bone pain
  • Changes in bone density
  • Muscle pain
  • Chest pain that radiates to the shoulder or arm
  • Vision problems
  • High blood sugar
  • Pain, burning, bruising or redness where Lupron was injected
  • Loss of movement in any part of the body
  • Rapid weight gain, swelling
  • Urinating more frequently; painful or difficult urination
  • Dry cough and/or wheezing
  • Feeling like you’re going to faint
  • Sudden headache accompanied with vomiting, blurry vision, confusion, fainting, weak pulse, slow breathing or slow heart rate

Lupron use has also been linked to blurry vision, memory problems, severe headaches and migraines, cardiac arrhythmias, chest pains and birth defects, among many others. Common symptoms associated with the use of the drug include hot flashes, pain around the groin or leg, nausea, vomiting and stomach upsets, breathing problems and loss of appetite, among others.

Legal Action Against Lupron

To date, there have been hundreds of lawsuits filed against the manufacturers of Lupron and its generics, with patients opting to discontinue usage of the drug because it caused more harm than it helped. Some suits have resulted in significant settlements for the victims.

If you have used Lupron and have noticed any uncharacteristic, adverse effects, please contact one of the Lupron injury attorneys in this directory as soon as possible because you may be entitled to compensation. The attorney will evaluate your case at no charge and advise you on the next course of action.
